SatNav Query

I really couldn't justify the expense of buying another SatNav for my next IS200, depreciating 2400 (or thereabouts) over 3 years is a little much, also I drive different cars that I need a SatNav in.

Anyone bought a Garmin StreetPilot III ? and have any opinions on it ?

I have to say I've been spoilt with my Lexus SatNav system, and I'm going to miss it.

What about getting yourself a Compaq iPaq PDA then adding on the NAVMAN GPS unit? - TFT Full colour, and you can also play games on it!! :D Total cost about 600GBP.

Garmin's excellent piece of kit. I have one, and I'm thinking of buying my next one. The neat thing about the Garmin is that's portable - you can very easily switch between cars and it works worldwide. If you're interested in buying one, take a look in buy and sell.

I'm with djanderso on this. The Ipaq with the latest Navman software looks awesome although I haven't tried it yet.

The Lexus satnav is a difficult act to follow and few of the other manufacturers' systems come close.

Garmin is good but don't go for the cheaper models. I had tried the various PDA solutions but find them all a bit clumsy. The speach on the garmin is the clincher over the PDA.

My wife has a VDO Dayton MS5000 installed in her car - it's every bit as good as my Lexus machine - the only thing that's missing is the touch screen.

I think that you can get kits to allow you to move the VDO device between cars too.
