just had new rears fitted on my gs ,fronts are pirrelis and the new rears are toyo tr1 directional.the cars handling has changed ,it seems fidgity and over sensitive almost like a big van in windy conditions .gets worse the faster i go and the smallest touch of the steering seems to be over exagareated .any one shed any light ,i have had them on for a week now and hoped it would settle down a bit .could it be the fact i have two different makes even though not on the same axle.

my IS is like this, had the 'geometry' done and it was/is still the same, gotta keep both hands on the wheel when cruising at speed now as all of a sudden it'll seem like it wants to go one way or the other. I'd love to get it sorted but don't know what else it could be, checked tyre pressure, alignment

(I have toyos all round)

dunno about your problem but i'll look forward to the results

The tyre mix is wrong! and in conflict, you cannot have assimetrical and directinal tyres running as partners, even over the axle front / rear, how did this conflict evolve!

Hmm, interesting. I have Dunlop SP1000's on the rear of my Mk1 GS and a pair of Hankook Ventus directional tyres on the front at the moment which seems ok then.

I have no problems with handling car sticks to the road. The only problem I sometimes have is a twitchy rear end which can catch me out in the wet but that is related to my driving style.

I also have a V6 Rover Vitesse which has Continetal Sports on the rear and Pirelli P600' on the front. Again the directional tyre is on the front not the rear and I have no handling problems at all on that car.

I to agree with Colin on the matter of tyre pressures, I find that keeping the correct pressure all round improves the ride comfort and handling immensely.

:crybaby: .the front ones were not worn so did not nead replacement ,went for the toyos to stop the rear end skipping as it did this with the pirrellis .stopped the skittish rear but new problem has arisen ,will check pressures tomorrow

Colin there is a "real" and actual reason for this that can be found! the tyres are the shoes the geometry the legs...show us your last geometry report!

I have the Ventus 104k's all round and they seem an excellent tyre. Previous owner had them on and I've stuck with them. The only criticism is that they are "interesting" in snow

I already sent you it via pm a few weeks ago, maybe a couple of months. You said everything looked fine from memory.

i'll be in your area on the 21st of this month but I think my car is too low for your equipment
