Servicing

My car is due for its 20,000 mile service in a few weeks and will be done by one of the North West dealerships. I have three question which I would appreciate the forum's opinion.

1. What oil i.e. synthetic etc do the dealers use?

2. Would I be better supplying my own oil?

3. COSTCO has two makes of fully synthetic oil for sale, one being Mobil 0W40 at approx £23 per 4 litre and the other being CHEVRON 5W40 at approx £12 per 4 litres. Any advice on which to buy?

1. Lexus Nottingham use 0W-30 Castrol fully synthetic

2. Yes yes yes Buy your own oil & filter and either DIY or take it to one of the tyre/exhaust sheds to do at a fraction of the main dealer price

3. I use Mobil No.1 Motorsport formula, fully synthetic

Just had my IS300LE serviced at a NW Dealer and they

used Castrol SLX 0/30 fully synthetic oil. They also charged me £60 + VAT for 6 litres. Interseting since the capacity from empty is 5.5 litres

and the remaining oil was not left with the car. I shall be shopping around or supplying my own in future. I'vd had the same problem with main dealers supplying tyres.
