Could I Claim This On My Insurance

Recommended Posts

Some kids l left something in the road which I drove over. Result was one bent 22" rim that would be unsafe to rebend into shape due to a hairline crack and a new tyre required.

Cost is around £800 is replace. Would I be able to claim this?

Im with Elephant and have protected no claims. Or is there a better story I could tell them.

I think you can still make a claim, as your vehicle is damaged after an 'accident'.

You could think of other more extensive and elaborate reasons if you wanted :whistling:

if your fully comp it wont matter whose fault it was will it? i'd give them a call and explain whats happened, you'll still have your policy excess to pay but im sure that wont be £800!

your no claims are protected so i'd go for it mate.

Is the 18" rim standard (i.e. not a factory option or an aftermarket rim)? REason for asking is that Elephant will only cover standard parts (they term standard as non-optional parts). Had a few discussions with them about this subject.

that is correct unless you told them about the aftermarket 22" wheels ,if you did you will be able to claim for a new one ,if not they will only pay out for the standard wheel and tyre. but then knowing lexus prices you will still be alright
