A motorcyclist went into the back of my car resulting in bumper damge, crumpled rear boot panel and boot floor damage. Insurance company wnat me to take it to their approved repairer whereas I want to take it to the local Lexus dealer which is more expensive. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing, are the approved repairers any good or should I persevere with the dealer?

Some lexus dealers are/or have approved repairer within there company, its up to you where the car goes at the end of the day, if you know where your car is going ask anyone on here if anyone has used them. :D

You loose your paintwork warranty if you go anywhere except Lexus by the way. Best thing is to get a quote from another lexus dealer then they should let you go to the cheaper one.

ive recently bumped mine and I had the same worries....

I took mine to lexus birmingham and theyre quote was 12k.... It was far too high.... I wasnt impressed with theyre level of service... alll they wanted was to get as much money out of my insurance company as possible. They asked me to leave the car there as they sub let body repairs to another company. Once i got the quote i was shocked, theres no way that much damage to my car... and i felt they would write off my car. I asked for my car back only to be told they were charging me storage costs..... £250 for 3 days,......

so ive taken it to an insurance approved garage so hopefully i should get it back soon

From recent experience i would go to the lexus dealer, simply because i let my is200 go to the insurance approved repairer now i have it back it is going to cost my insurance co 1400 quid to put right what the approved repairer did wrong

You have the ultimate choice in where your car goes, I say take it to Lexus. Make sure you pick the right dealer tho, because some can be just as bad as independents :shutit:

I see you're in London, whereabouts? If you're near Woodford, go there. They have excellent service in every area :winky:

Thanks for the comments so far, the LEXUS dealer I have a quote from is Edgware Road (what is their work like ?), and the approved repairer is Abbey coach works in wembley, anyone used them before? but I will probably get another quote from another Lexus dealer

I recently had a really really bad bodyshop experience with Edgware Road (aka Jemca bodyshop). I've lost count how many times I took the car back to them, it got ridiculous. They completely ruined the paintwork and stole the change in my ashtray (which was eventually rectified after a lot of complaining) and the car was also damaged on two separate occasions whilst in their possession. If it were me, I'd avoid them at all costs

Try to get to Woodford, much nicer people, they give u an IS as a courtesy car rather than a Yaris, and I think they were also cheaper
