Chipping?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I have an IS200 totally standard. Which in my opinion is a little under powered to say the least. At the end of the day, I did not buy it for performance, just for sheer comfort and sensibleness. It would however, be nice to have a little more pull, even if it is a small amount more.

I am not really in the market for turbos and superchargers.

What about chipping the car, has anyone done that, if so, will it make much difference in performance?

Also, finally, where do you go to get the car chipped, if indeed, it is worth doing at all.

Any help would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance...... :)

If you do a search you'll see this has been covered before lots. Costs a few hundred then there's the labour for mapping and basically its not worth it unless you've added a bigger exhaust and replaced the standard air filter with an induction kit.

Chipping (correctly known as remapping the ECU) is only effective with forced induction, i.e. turbocharger or compressor.

The most effective performance mods to a nomally aspirated engine are a unrestricted (decatted) exhaust system and cold air induction.

yep, not worth it on its own.

however, if after fitting......

manifold, hi flow cat......and back box, induction kit....which will give good gains, you get a piggy back , it will all be very much worth it

Has prolex invented an induction kit for the IS200 yet by any chance?

I know they were working on it.

I want I need!

There was a proto type tested on my car when it was at Dave's house. I think he already has a guinea pig lined up for the first one.
