Heating For Rear Passengers

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever considered putting extra heating in the back ?

My daughter was complaining of being cold in the back on a recent trip. We were roasting in the front while trying to keep her happy

I suspect electric seats would be too much hassle, so is there an after-market "electric blanket" device that could be plugged into the fag lighter? Or perhaps the heater flow could redirected into the rear footwell? Has anyone any suggestions?

Is this a Sportcross problem?

Cheers,

IanB :D

i thought there were heater vent's under the front seats??

Yep whenever I have that problem, I just switch the vents to "feet" and then you get a better airflow coming out at the back, although you also get warm feet at the front too :P

Yes there are, and warm air gets through them OK when I turn the blower on. I think the problem is more associated with the cold feel of the leather seats. It was her body that was cold, rather than her feet.

Sounds like the electric blanket, or maybe just a big rug to cover the leather, is the way to go.

Yes that's the problem. The balance front to back isn't very good, so my feet were roasting, while the complaints were still coming from the back. As per my previous thread, I think I now have the solution. A nice warm (maybe electric) blanket.

Thanks,

Problem solved. Got a great electric blanket though eBay for £15.49 incl p&p. Big enough to cover the whole rear seat. Very cosy it is too.

Now I've got a use for that extra socket in the back of the Sportcross.

Should keep my daughter happy :) :)

Here you go Niraj:-

The picture shows a blue blanket, but the one I was sent is beige. Not a problem for me, and it just took 3 days to arrive.

And yes the Sportcross does have an extra socket, but it's in the "boot" and has no fag lighter with it.

Cheers,
