Tyre Size For 18's

I've read different values for this so i wondered if anybody could confirm whats best.

if i was to go from 17" rims to 18", what tyre size would i need?? currently, they're 215/45/ZR17......so would it be 225/40/ZR18??? :duh:

additionally, by fitting the 18" rims, would it make the car look as if its sitting lower??

The only way you car can look lower, is if you LOWER the suspension!

By going from 17s to 18s, and keeping the same overall diameter of tyre and wheel, the gap between tyre and wheel arch will be the same.

As Maneesh said, you'll be keeping the rolling radius more or less the same, so won't look lower unless you lower it, or change the rolling radius, which you don't really want to do as it will put your speedo out.

Need to know what width your new wheels are before saying what tyres will fit.

yea, the plans to lower her are on the books for sometime in the not too distant future (possibly gonna go for TEIN coilies - heard they're one of the best out there). i just wondered if the larger rims would give the effect of the car seeming to sit lower.

i will find out the width of the alloys tomorrow and post up the details :D :D

Personally i don't think larger rims make a car look lower... but thin side walls definitly give the impression that the wheels are huge....... :winky:
