Tte Supercharger

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

I am keen to get more horses under the bonnet and am keeping an eye on the forum posts relating to 'group buys' with TDI.

However I am concerned about the impact that this mod will have on my insurance.

Would anyone be willing to share how much their premium went up with this mod in percentage terms?

ie. if you were paying £500 before and you are now paying £1500, it has gone up by 300%.

I'd just like to get a view on it. Also insurance companies aren't too helpful with quotes when you haven't already got it done.

Cheers.

I do not have any experiences with the supercharger - sorry :( - but we have a bunch of guys who do, all of whom are regulars, so someone will be along shortly who can answer your questions!

However, I did post to urge you to strongly suggest that you look into joining as a gold member.

There are two main reasons for this

1 - access to discounts which WILL come in useful when looking at buying and fitting a supercharger ;)

2 - access to a special Lexus Owners Club Insurance Scheme - this is insurance that offers discounted rates for members, but importantly, is sympathetic to such modifications.

its only £25 a year - you'll save that on servicing alone anyway - never mind the mods, so what other incentive do you need?

:D

I'm just waiting for LOC Insurance for Gold members to come back to me on this subject because I will be preceeding with his mod in a couple of months

Join Gold and get a quote or try your current broker

Hey 17% ain't too bad at all.

so if I'm paying £800 now then it would just be like adding VAT!

I thought it would triple or something.

Are you with a specialist insurer?

And YES I will be joining gold soon!!!! <_< :P :D

Nope with Direct Line - I was extremely surprised that that is all it went up by, but I made sure that I faxed them a list of mods and got them to confirm receipt so they can't say I didn't declare it!! I've also got home and travel insurance through them so you get some extra discount for that oh and the second car through them. I have never had to claim so I don't kinow if they are any good but as soon as it expires in April i'm moving over to the LOC insurance with both cars and house if they'll let me

Cheers

Si
