I have a lexus is200 just wanted to know the location of the ECU as i have to get it reprogrammed so that it can work with the new key i am getting made!

open the bonnet, look right next to your washer bottle, black box with 3 bolts holding top on, its inside :D

whoever told you that you need to gain access to the ECU to reprogramme the key doesnt have a clue and is talking complete crap to put it mildly..... all reprogamming is done thru the ignition lock

If what you said is true then why does Lexus want to change the ECU so that it can work with the new key made? ?

The ECU only needs changing if you've lost all the master keys, if you have a master key a new master key can be programmed with a set procedure using the ignition barrel

Lost all master keys thats why the ECU needs programming! Thanks for the help

yes only if u have lost all keys... and thats about 2K for new ecu and locks etc... but wouldnt lexus change the ecu and not u? also remember that u will have the security screws on a cover plate for the ECU if for some reason you are doing it urself
