Chaning The Is200 Stero

Recommended Posts

Hi,

just wondering how difficult it is to fit a new stero into the IS200? I was told it was a huge job and not really worth doing?

Any advice?

it's not that hard a job, depending obviously on what you want to do. With a bit of research,

you will find Head Unit replacement is not that difficult, other jobs such as replacing the

Rear 6x9's are slightly more troublesome, but again certainly not that difficult.

Everything depends on what you want to do, so let me know what you have planned & I will see what I can do to help.

Head Unit swap-out

Facia Modifying

Front component replacement

Rear 6x9 replacement

Installing Amplifiers

Cd Changers

Installing Subwoofer Box & Amplifier in the Boot

The list goes on, so have a look at my I.C.E Thread (link in my signature or the post above this one ..ta Chris)

have a read through and then post up what your plans are :D

In terms of looks the only thing I would go for would be a double DIN full screen type headunit (like the one Shake's got up for sale at the mo - if it's still for sale)

Replacing the headunit isn't too hard I think as long as you buy the bypass cable off eBay..........

go onto caraudiosecurity or bass junkies and see what you can get for your money for £300 you'll get a really decent one

Thanks for that, hopefully won't have any trouble finding one i like :D Should i take it to a local garage to be fitted? My mate said he would give it a try but not quite sure i trust him!

its easy mate do it yourself as long as you have the bypass lead thats the hardest part (well more awkward many have scraped a knuckle or to)theres always guides or people on here like wozza or redzuk that are great help.i stripped mine out and fitted a new one all the way through and had great fun also

Just a quick question! How do you get the old oem stereo out?

My disc changer doesnt work as the headunit wont load discs into it. I wanted to take it out and see if it is just the wiring as the radio is doin my head in :tsktsk:
