Live Power Wire

Recommended Posts

Can never remember which one is switched-live, and which one is permanent. Have you got access to a multi-meter?

The plug going into rear of your stereo will most likely have a yellow wire, and also a brown one. One is a permanent feed, for radio memory/clock etc., the other switched from ignition.

(I'd guess at yellow, but check first with a meter)

The easiest way to find out is to put the black probe of a mutli-meter to earth and the red against a pin of either of these wires (set to 20v DC). You may even find something more convenient under the pass. dash (courtesy lights?) if you have a root around.

Most red wires tend to be permanent live also.

Supracharged is right.

behind the plastic kick panel on the drivers side fusebox. You'll see towards the bulkhead end, a white plug with a thick WHITE wire going into it. Do test it first, but it's perm.12volts on mine........
