Rough Price For Front Bumper Respray?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

A while ago my front bumper started peeling. The paint has just been falling off, and its just been getting worse and worse. So I need to have it resprayed. Problem is, I dont think it'll be a case of just flatting the old paint and painting over, cos it doesnt look as if the bumper was prepared properly original. Its a tte one fitted from new. But Ive asked lexus and they said that paint warranty has run out, so Im on my own.

What kind of price should I be expecting to get it done? Obviously the lower the better, but I dont want it to happen again. So need to know what is a fair price for a good job. Its plat ice if that makes a difference.

Cheers guys

Gazza

i got quoted £400 all in for the full front of my car ie bumper bonnet and 2 wings. and i have seen his work and it is good. but prices vary dramatically in the spraying game. same guy told me £150 for front bumper alone. phone around. big companies are usually dearest and avoid people that want to charge for a quote. con artists. so even if you dont like their price they still getting money from you

Isn't the paintwork warranty 6 years? So surely it's only just out of warranty, and possibly when you first noticed it it was still in warranty? Either way I'd expect them to fix that, perhaps try a few dealers, and then maybe kick up a fuss with Lexus GB too.

As far as the respray goes, I've paid £250 in the past to have a bumper sprayed at a Lexus bodyshop...........

Does this mean mine is  was registred in 03

Guess so! At the end of the day its worth a shot, the worst that could happen is that they say no, best that could happen is it gets sorted under warrenty!!!! B)

MMMmmm & would i get a nice courtesy Lex

Yep if it's an 03 it is, my 02 only just fell out of the warranty but thankfully I've had no paint defects :)

If you've got an actual issue, check with them, if they agree to sort it then yes you'll get a Lexus courtesy car to play with as well (depends on the bodyshop though as some of them only have Toyotas  :P )

I did check with them when I first noticed it, but they (and the warranty book)said that it only includes sheet metal not attachments, ie bumpers. I did try saying that it was bad workman ship but then just said no. And problem is my next nearest dealer is over an hour away, and havnt got the time. At least if its a local sprayer I can go back and winge if it happens again.

Do you think it'll be alot more labour cos they'll have to take most (maybe all) the paint off first cos it looks too smooth and shiney under there to be a good key.

Thanks for all the replies, may try and pop in a few on the weekend and get some prices. May try and get my bonnet done as well cos its covered in stone chips.

Thanks again

Gazza
