I cannot remember where but I read somewhere that Maxxis tyres were like the old Austin Maxis ..a pile of cr*p and with 260 BHP under the bonnet I would be more concerned with tyre quality than tyre price.

I have a 99 LS400 with the DHP pack / 17" wheels. I refused to pay the eye watering prices for the Pirelli P Zero 245/50/17W out of principle.......I therefore went for Pirelli P Zero Nero 235/55 R17 W (98) (1cm narrower but almost an identical rolling radius).

They are perfect, very quiet, ride well and I cannot notice any difference apart from the price - These were £48.18 + VAT each from blackcircles.com!!!

You have got a wider choice with the different size tyres (unlike the standard size where you have the choice of Pirelli or Pirelli), you can go for a better make than Maxxis for not much more.

dont do as I did and go for too low a profile (went for 40`s on the recommendation of the local fitter) as it will be too low to the floor and you will ruin your front air dams and scrape the exhaust and gearbox when you go onto your driveway etc.
