Driving Position

I drove the Lexus back from North Herefordshire yesterday evening ( twas snowing quite bad in Worcester )back down to South Devon.

This is the first long journey I have had in the car and she behaved impeccably, in fact it was so quiet I had to stop myself nodding off on several occasions.

But one thing I found is that despite all the multitude of position changes you can implement on the car, both steering and seat, my right arm kept going dead ?

I just could not get it comfy.

I do have quite a bad injury to this arm though, after a bike crash on New Years day 2000 and it does give me jip from time to time, but this was different.

I was getting pins and needles all down the arm and had to keep stretching it out.

Has anybody else encountered this ?

No... I keep the right arm on the wheel and the left arm on the very comfy arm rest...

I found the same sort of problem with mine, the arm rest on the door is to low & the window ledge to high to rest my right elbow, what I do now on long journeys is either raise the seat up high to rest my elbow on the window ledge, or drop the wheel down low & rest my arm on my leg.

haha im glad im not alone on this one. It did take a bit of getting use to. But I eventually got use to resting my right arm on the driver door ledge. It did feel a bit high at first but i think it just feels 'normal' now.

Being a short ***** probably does'nt help in my case ( leads me to suspect that the car was definately not designed for the Japanese market) theres enough room to play snooker behind my seat.

You need to by the Celsior import model like mine, this has an electrically adjustable door arm rest with up/down and forwards/backwards adjustment so you can rest your arm in the most comfortable position for driving, the cf package model has in addition to this a heated massaging door arm rest

Mine ha a massaging brake pedal, must be something wrong with it though as it only seems to work in icy conditions

Hi, Right down into my hand and finger tips.

If you atatch a bunge cord to the sun visor & wrap the outher end around your wrist this will also solve the problem. :winky:

I could attach a bungee cord to both wrists then I would look like "Brains" in Thunderbirds " Gee Mr.Tracey this Lexus LS400 sure drives better than the mole"
