Sound Coming From Exhuast

Just started to get a sound of loose stones from the center part of my exhaust. IS it the catalytic converter gone? Been to Toyota and got price of over 600 Euros. Is there any other place to buy one cheaper. Plus my right damper is leaking. IS it best to buy stock units or another brand . Its the second time it has gone.

Any advice would be good.

I don't know if a failed cat can sound rattly, but could it be gravel stuck in a heat shield ? Or a loose heat shield ?

600 Euros for the cat ? That does sound like the Toyota sort of price, unfortunately. I'm sure someone posted some stuff a while back about getting a cat much cheaper elsewhere, might just have been a used one though, I'm not sure. If I find it I will post a link.

ye a failed cat can sound like that.the inside if the cat melts in to a ball like shape and rattles about inside.very sore for the pocket.

since i have had the prolex maniold fitted sounds rattly when reving the car at idle its fine. will check it when i get a hydrolic jack
