Problem With Ebay :s

I have listed a car on eBay for sale, and having revised the item today, I have noticed a secondary contact number has been added which is nothing to do with me, someone I know has text the number and had a reply stating the car is sold, but I tried ringing the number and it doesn't connect

this is the second time as it also happened a few months ago

has anyone else come accross this when they have sold a car on eBay? and could it be possible that a bot is generating money from people calling what they think is my contact number? I have deleted the number off my ad and will persistantly check it to make sure it doesn't happen again, and I have emailed eBay but if i'm honest I don't trust their reply anyway as I suspect it could also be a canvasser with some kind of agreement with eBay..

you may want to completely wipe your PC and reinstall the operating system. If you are changing your password and people are still getting in I can only assume your machine is redirecting you to a fake eBay login or you have a key stroke logger installed etc.

i've had a new computer since the last time tho, I think this time its somethin to do with eBay since its just a contact number thats been put on, i've not had anythin else dodgy happen with my account, i've run all relevent spyware/malware virus tools etc, I will keep my eyes on my eBay ad and remove it if anything changes, picked eBay as it was cheaper lol

Try searching eBay (item and description) for that contact number, see if it's cropping up elsewhere.

Could be a spambot (Or a bot as somebody stated). Might just be somehow getting the number onto the auction it is, and getting the money of people contacting it. Although, If i was a buyer, ide contact the first contact number (Which i presume your real number was at the top?)

Its still a pain though... I wonder whats causing the problem. Hopefully eBay can get to the bottom of it :winky:

yeh altho the secondary number was added, it wasn't selected so my number was still displayed, eBay deny all knowledge, I have been keeping a close eye on it anyway and all seems well for now, I won't be using eBay again to sell the car from now on anyway
