1995 Ls400 Nakamichi Cd Player Stuck!

I have a 1995 Lexus LS400 with a Nakamichi 6 disc CD changer that is located above the glove compartment on the passenger side. I don't remember when or how it stopped functioning (it has been a long time), but the CD changer is stuck and the "ERR 13" message appears every time I press the CD button on the console. What does "ERR 13" mean? The CD player does not make any noise (it used to when it worked), but the eject button does flash when you press it. However the CD magazine will not eject. It has been stuck for over 6 months.

An aftermarket stereo business wanted to charge me $500 to replace the changer.

Does anyone have any advice or tips?

On the right side and near the top of the page there is a box entitled "Search Lexus Owners Club" I entered "error 13" into this and it came up with all sorts of information that may help you to help yourself

if they're anything like the 1993 models, then dont buy the same one.

My car has had 3 cd changers (in the boot), but they have all done it.

I've not put one in, but the one thats in is 6 years old and it broke after 2 years, it says error and wont play cd's.

It does play eventually after 20/30 mins, (when u just forget & leave it on) but if you skip too many tracks it will be at it again

The unit will not play copy cd's at all, if it does they stop working after several listens anyway.

I'm guessing its when the laser warms the condensation off the insides (is that why they are now in the glovebox???), but it could be something similar to the blinking dash faulty component syndrome.
