Hi, i have got a 2001 is200 S level, removed factory radio, I think its the lower speck fitment, top load cd, with only 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, (not premium sound system) and fitted clarion mp3 player 4x40 watt and x bass function, Question, why have I lost all the bass upon fitting this clarion, superb clarity, treble etc BUT no bass, Its not the head unit because when I refit back into MR2 the sound(bass) is superb, Also when refitted original h/u bass was back,

Also what is the single lead fitted to the back of the original oem head unit, also has two multiplug connectors, which I know is power speakes etc, Its just the single lead I was concerned about, Thanks guys, Phil,

hi Phil

The single lead im guessing if for the radio.

Also the loss of bass is because if you remove the factory fitted unit and replace you have to bypass the amp, which ive been told is behind the glovebox!

someone please correct me if im wrong ;)

Phill

I had the same issue as you when I upgraded to an Alpine head unit. I had no factory amp either so that's not the reason. I've been told the factory unit has it gains preset to sound a certain way compared to an aftermarket unit which is generally set flatter. I'm about to install an aftermarket amp to see what difference that will make to begin with but I have some Rainbow components & Alpine sub to go in so lack of bass wont be an issue after that.

I am I correct in thinking my S model does not have an amp, it is not the premium sound system as in th SE, also I need to know what the single wire is for to the factory head unit, thanks again guys
