Ls400 Wouldn't Start Today

Recommended Posts

Just had a scary moment with the LS, went shopping then returned to the car turned the key and got the dreaded click click.

The click was more pronounced than the failed contact problem I had before as you could actually hear the starter motor solenoid plunger operating and the dash lights went completely out.

Embarrasingly I had to lift the bonnet in public on a Lexus and to my relief discovered a loose negative Battery terminal.

I am always weary of over tightening these as I have seen the post snap off batteries in the past.

Using the 10mm Lexus spanner in the boot toolkit to nip up the nut I soon had the problem fixed.

The Battery voltage dipped so low due to the connector being loose on cranking I had to reset the clock and radio presets!

Phew!!!!!!!

Embarrassed?? well i bet those folks who 1st thought 'ha look at that...a Lexus broken down' were soon brought down to earth when you were quickly on your way again, and then wishing their cars were as reliable as ours

Very true plus the fact that Lexus supply the toolkit in the boot as standard to be able to fix it!
