Does anybody know the settings for the Wheel Alignment for the Lexus IS200 Sport? Cant get down to Tony's due to Work commitments, it will have to be done local to Wolverhampton. Any help be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Would have been better to ask Tony tbh, but I know he will not mind if I give them as he's made them public knowledge.

Here are the settings for the IS200/300/sc

............................................

REAR

Camber: 55’ Negative

Toe: 6’ Positive (partial)

Thrust: 0. Or as near to but no more than 5’

FRONT

Camber: 10 to 15’ Negative

Castor: 6 Degrees Positive if possible + - 30’

KPI/ SJI: even +- 30’

Included angle: - not relevant (unless uneven by more than 45’)

Toe: 4’ Positive (partial)

...........................................

Where is this Tony based?

I got a feel the geometry on ours isn't 100%.

The car does not pull to any side, but it feels quite heavy on the road and a tad slow in its reactions. I never had the opportunity to compare it to any other IS but I would expect this car to be more lively and light how it drives.

Tony / WIM can be found at:

Moor Road

Chesham

Buckinghamshire

Definitely worth the visit :)

Pardon my ignorance, why go to him instead of the local geometry specialist or the local Lexus stealer ?

Pardon my ignorance, why go to him instead of the local geometry specialist or the local Lexus stealer ?

Because Tony/WIM have spent many years investigating/correcting the inner tyre wear issue that have affected most IS200/300's.

The Lexus OEM geometry settings are wrong and local geometry specialists/Lexus dealer can only set the IS up to the factory settings (which will cause inner tyre wear). I believe LOC asked WIM years ago to investigate and re-write the geometry settings in order to eliminate inner tyre wear.

WIM has set the geometry on a lot of IS200's (including mine).

Inner tyre wear says negative camber to me and sharp handling... Ours does NOT eat the inside of its tyres and does not handle sharply

I assume Tony knows how to set it up that it does not its tyres but does not feel like it's been set up by a plonker.

Will give him a shout.

TX !

Of course Tony knows how to setup the geometry on the IS200- he wrote the revised settings!!!

Just to explain.... LOC asked wim several years ago to investigate the alarming front tyre wear issues with the IS200/300/SC, we addressed this and gave the club the final settings for all "in gold" to see/use.

The real problem with the cars is not the camber but the non-adjustable castor and it's relationship with the camber on the corner. The procedure we evolved indirectly adjusts the castor and solves the wear problem without replacing suspension components.

Does it also solve 'heaviness' ? Or might the fact i find ours not very agile be caused by a tw@t doing the geometry. I sure don't see any negative camber on ours.

Heaviness is not a common complaint on the IS so something is amiss.

I live in Cornwall and thought perhaps i could get a local wheel alignment specialist to set up mine to Tonys' settings. Several attempts later and several different places visited and none of them got anywhere close. They were more than happy to take my money but less than happy to help when 3500 miles later my new set of tyres were down to the canvas. I have visited Tony this week after deciding that throwing my money away locally was a false economy. I only wish i had visited Tony in the first place. My car has been transformed from a nervous handling beast that would eat tyres to a car that sticks to the road like poop to a blanket. It rides far more smoothly and is now a real pleasure to drive. Tony said that my car was one of the worst he had seen in a long time. One of the rear wheels wad been adjusted beyond the limit of the cam adjuster so any adjustment was making no difference. BOTH front camber locks were loose and all 4 wheels were pointing in different directions. The company that had set it up before had taken 3 attempts before telling me to get lost. The moral of the story as already stated is find the time to go to Tony and rest assured that the job will be done properly. I for one will not hesitate to make the 550 mile round trip again should i need to.
