1St Days Of Ownership...let The Problems Begin!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Just bought my Lexus last Sunday and the first few problems already came up:

- Power steering rack needs replacing both sides?? (£400 + VAT each side per Lexus quote..ouuchh!!)

- The lights next to the auto gearbox stick (D / R / N etc..) have gone off!

Any suggestions for the above?

Regards

My lights next to the gear sitck dont even light up... didnt realise they were meant to? :S

And didnt you noticed the steering when you bought the car?

If you bought it from a trader, you should be able to go back to them and ask them for some sort of warrenty...

yeap, as above, either the bulb or fuse is blown, fuse for this should be in the driver side footwell. The gear surround pops up with a little help of a screwdriver, should you need to replace the bulb :)

Guys,

Thanks for your reply!

The lights next to the auto gearbox started working again, so I hope it stays like that.

For those who think that there are no lights on the auto gearbox base, I suggest to them to get it checked as they are quite usefull in the dark.

If you guys want to see how it looks, I can take some pics and post here so you will get the picture.

With regards to the power steering racks, my mechanical knowledge is very little and thats what ive been told at lexus that they need replacing.

Toke it to my mechanic today, and he couldnt see any leaks and the power steering liquid its full, cant hear any noises or anything different on the steering wheel, but to be 100% sure my mechanic will check it properly on monday as he was busy today.

Finnally, a pic of my baby, hope u like it:
