How To Remove The Fuel Cover?

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm getting a new bumper painted, but the company has asked me to send them a part of my car so they can get a perfect colour match. Initially I thought the fuel cover would be the best part, but it seems to be riveted in place?

Are there any ways to get it off (maybe removing the hinge pin?) short of drilling it out :s

take a mirror cover off instead

Good idea. Do you need to pop out the mirror glass to get to it?

yes, but it does just pop out easily, altho don't know if best to pop out from close to the door or the outer edge first, i'm not sure if there are screws or clips holding the actual cover on, the old ones (before 02 i think) had a couple of screws, and the newer ones had clips, but I dunno if there were any screws too on the newer ones

Yeah I'd say so. Granted its probably the easiest to look 'matched', but I bought a headlight washer jet cover from Lexus pre-sprayed in 2n2, and its got a slightly greyer tint to it. So its deffo worth having matched if possible.
