Audio Advice - You Help Needed Please

Hi folks,

getting sick of having a glove box full of CDs sliding around all the time. :crying:

I have a Nokia phone with the standard 3.5mm headphone socket/output. I was thinking of just putting some mp3's on it and getting one of those tape-3.5mm adapters. Have any of you used these before? Or do you have any better ideas to use mp3's in the motor???

Ive tried the whole wireless thing thats plugs into the cigerette lighter, but the sound quality was :tsktsk:crpa to say the least.

thanks in adavance

Lloyd :)

Grom ipod adapter is what you need (assuming you have OEM headunit).

Time to put your tunes on an ipod and ditch the CD's... :)

Dont support ipod's im afaraid - strongly against them and itunes (i worked for apple for a short while and seem the ammount of returns)

will this work on a generic Mps player kam?

ive just got the standard Cd player in atm - still no error 3 etc woohoo! :)

Hello!

i modify the Lexus stock radio with a "TAPE IN"

You can with this modification the signal from a mp3 player or some other player with your Lexus Radio. Only you need a good audio cassette for noiseless tape function.

for this function, i open the line between the tape und the source-switch IC on the board. i solder a audio cable on the capacitor and bridge the restistors for more volume for the TAPE IN.

You can modify each radio from the IS, with or without internal amplifier. her pics from the electronic board

for modify the board, please all cd out of the mechanic! please demount only the electronic board, not the front!

sorry, no more pics from this modification on this board

her the technical schematic from the source IC on the board

you can use the original capacitor for this modificaton. on this picture i testet the first time with other caps.

Radios with external amplifier have a little other board, but is not difficult to find the right caps und resistors.

greets

Boergy

worked like a charm

I had an iTrip for ages but got fed up of radio hiss and retuning if I drove from one side of the city to the other...

I've got a tape-thingy now and it works fine, though I'm not mad keen on the wire sticking out of the cassette slot. Cheap as chips though so you can't go wrong really :)

hey lloyd

how you doin man?

i got a tape adapter and the sound quality is pretty good , only 2 things that pee me off about it is the wire hanging out and the sound of the stereos tape mechanism rotating all the time , also if you use your phone you will have that phone interference blip de blip noise coming through the speakers now and again which does get on your nerves at times so i would recommend using an mp3 player mate.

i think im gonna have to go for a grom mp3 adapter.

this tape thing I bought for £2 sounds like a tractors in my dash.

I'd like to quote this from the listing i purchased from " silent mechanism - for excellent sound quality"

yeah silent when its not plugged in. Dont get me wrong i wasn't expecting miracles for £2 but i certainly will be sticking to Cd's for now until i can afford an adapter.

unless of course my numbers come up 2moro (lottery i mean)

That's a really bad one then, the one I had didn't make any noise itself but there was a slight hiss which annoyed me so had to make the switch - get the grom it's well worth it :)
