Boot Opener

not a fault at all, just general wear, they all seem different, the seal gets a little bit 'sticky' if the boot hasn't been opened for a few days so u may find that the lock will release but the boot hardly budges, if you open it and close it and pop it again it'll open more as u've 'unstuck' the seal

as for how springy the springs are that will vary on how much the boot has been used since leaving the factory or if they've ever been replaced, you may also find that models without spoilers are more likely to pop up more than those with them

I would imagine that if the boot isn't used as much the springs get used to being compressed down and therefore don't pop up as much, I could be wrong on that but it seems logical

maybe a longer answer than u expected but I had a few mins spare to respond

hi all new on ere just bought a 51 plate is 200 se and im wondering when i pop the boot with the key should it open right up or just pop as mine just pops but my mates used to open right up ? is it a fault and is it an easy fix cheers paul

The LS400 (the original Lexus) was designed to just pop-up to avoid water getting in when it rains. Mine behaves in this manner so yours is just fine.
