Superchargers For Ls 400

Hi,

My first post so I thought I would get straight into it!

I have been in and out of Lexus vehicles for many years and recently bought an LS400 (97/98 model). I like the car and want to modify it by adding a supercharger and lowering the suspension. I have been searching the web a bit and have seen Tanabe lowering springs (lower body height and roll without drastically changing the ride comfort) and believe that an Eaton M90 supercharger is the prefered item for increasing power.

Does anyone have any experience of these options or recommedations (alternative routes excluding buying an M5 etc)?

Cheers, Rob.

I have no idea about the supercharger but I would recommend some MeisterR Europa coilovers as by the time you have imported some springs, decided to fit new shocks and top mounts as well :winky: you might as well just fit coilovers!

Mine have 12kg front springs and 8kg rear springs that came as standard, I am currently running 2 clicks from the softest damping setting on the front and 1 click on the back and it rides as good as if not better than any car I have lowered on just springs :)

I have no idea about the springs but superchargers a little, look at the link below for more info or google supercharged UCF10.

It is said that some of the JDM Toyota Celsiors were supercharged as standard unfortunately mine isn't one of them! :msn-cry:

Hi Andy,

Thanks for this - you are probably right about the dampers etc - I am currently overseas and trying to do this before I return to blighty (car is storedat a friends and he will sort an MOT out for me soon), my guess is it might need some work for the MOT so no point in spending the money twice - I will investigate the coiloers you mention.

Best regards, Rob.

Many thanks Steve,

I know it will not be everyones cup of tea but there is something I find very attractive about a large luxury sedan which will out run most sports cars without looking any diferrent to a standard car (hence my interest in the supercharger). I will check out the links and see what I find (my main concern is how much additional modification will be required - the supercharger unit almost seems like the easy bit?)?

Best regards, Rob.

Firstly Here's the link for the supercharger kits.

Bullet Cars AUS.

http://www.bulletcars.com/superchargers/toyota/lexus/soarer-v8-ls400-uz31-uz32-celsior-crown-1uzfe-htv1900-supercharger-system.html

Please note superchargers should only be fitted to engines with less than 100,000miles on the clock. Obivous reasons.

As for lowering springs don't bother as the gas in your sturts will be pretty old and low on pressure and the extra strain will cause leeks on the suspension(Mot failure if it leeks) in time going over humps etc.

Just go for a straight coil over kit. Please note don't bother with the british makes as cheap and nasty amd will leek in a few months. Go straight for a Japanese kit. Go for TEIN, HKS, APEXI, TOM's etc.
