Sat Nav Updates

Recommended Posts

I have a 2005 IS200. A firm who I won't name at the moment are offering updates for virtually all cars, including the IS200 2005, but they say the disc is the same for all from 2005 onwards, which obviously includes touchscreens, which my car does not have. So, does this look OK, or are the firm simply copying discs from owners' cars, or what? Is it a scam, do you think? Are update discs available legally at a sensible price? Has anyone any experience of non-Lexus discs?

Hi,take you old disc out and write down the disc number, input the number into the lexus map updates web site and this should give you the latest disc updates part number and price.Alternatively try cheaptoyotaparts mine cost me £139.00p.Be careful what you buy else where as you might end up with the wrong disc or one that doesnt work.

Hi David,

I don't know whether, from 2005, all satnav discs are the same but, as Skudney says, be careful where you buy from. When I looked into getting an update for my satnav, I couldn't find anywhere except Lexus who sold the correct discs. I ended up getting a 2007 update disc off eBay. I payed £35 and I'm well pleased with it. So, bearing in mind that the roads are being changed all the time and that update discs are never completely up-to-date, you might be as well off keeping an eye out for one on eBay.

Hope this helps,

Mick.

I'm pretty sure the discs aren't the same, there is variation depending on which generation of satnav system you have. Might be wrong, but I'm quite confident that's how it works.
