Having been out on a couple of test drives, in the 400 SEL, I notice that the cars pull to the left under fairly normal acceleration. Also, there seems to be a slight tendency for the steering to pull a little left. Are these "normal" observations, as I have been used to BMW's for the last 15 years. I really like the car, but the driving experience is not as sharp as the BM. Still looking for my ideal car, and now having a long break in Spain, to recharge after Christmas. Really like this forum as well, many thanks, Ainsley

If you do a little research here using the 'Search' function you will find that this is quite normal.

I've had an 08 plate since July and yes the torque steer is a known common thing. Mainly due to most of the torque going to the front wheels.

I have also noticed a very very slight pulling to the left. Only really noticed on motorways. I was going to ask the dealership to have a look at it on the next service but after your posts its seems to be a common issue.
