The flashing M and Range means theres a fault with gearbox, had it on my old is300, ended up scrapping it, hope the same doesnt apply to you.

would advise booking it into an Independet Lexus specialist to have it code read and also change the gearbox oil fluid. cost me £209 at Albin B motors to have transmission oil , differencial and brake fluids drained and refilled when i bought mine for peace of mind. if you are using any other garage for this make sure they use Toyota Type T IV fluid as any other oil will damage the transmission. If possible buy the fluid fropm Toyota yourself and take it to the garage to have this done. £62 I was quoted for a 5 litre from Toyota Luton.

i hope not too lol, but the thing is sometimes the tiptronic works. and works perfectly at that but then it decides not to work again lol. im assuming its a auto ecu fault? and if so where can i get parts like that from?

it's no good "assuming" anything as this will only cost you time and money.

As other and myself suggest have a transmision diagnostic carried out before doing anything else, this hopefully will give you the faults code(s) to help diagnose the actual problem.

There are many possible causes, one the transmission fluid has already been mentioned, it is Toyota transmission specific and any other type will cause problems so make sure it is Type IV and the transmission fluid level is correct by following the checking proceedure in your handbook.

Then there may be a shift solenoid problem, again this should show on a diagnostic check.

There may also be a problem with the kickdown system this is normally a cable from the throttle control to the transmission, if not correctly adjusted problems occur.

So have the diagnostic check done 1st then come back with the results it is certainly a cheaper option than spending over a grand on an ECU which probab;y won't sort the issues.
