As far as im aware the sport model has these over the other models,

- Limited Slip Diff.

- Lower slightly stiffer suspension.

-A few exterior extras.

Other than that they are pretty much the same.

Ive only had my is for just over a month now so theyre could be more but these are the main differences i think.

The difference is:-

Lower suspension

18" alloys

Limited slipp diff

Tinted back windows and rear windscreen

Alloy sport pedals

Two tone leather steering wheel

Some come with a TTE or TRD factory fitted styling kit which both looks the nuts

The front grill on the sport even the ones without the kit is smaller making the car look more aggressive.

I think it's worth getting a sport, for me these extras make a difference. Standard IS200 SE that my wife drives doesn't look anywhere near the car I drive and their the same year 2001.

Yeah I realised the 18" wheels never came as standard after I wrote it but I thought all sports came with the drilled alloy pedals. I stand corrected :)

either that or could mine have been nicked or swaped at some point its had 5 owners.

Maybe.... It's just every sport I looked at when buying had them. They may have been an optional extra. :)

Mine are almost black now, well the accelerator anyway after 11 years, look a bit tatty but as nobody ever sees them I've just forgotten about them to be honest!

Well I have a 2000yr is200 sport. Mine did not come with 18" alloys as most people and also did not come with bodykit just standard bodykit. No 15mm drop as I was told this didnt come in till around 02 and the same with the LSD ( dont quote me as im only saying what ive been told ) as for everything else I.e steering wheel, pedals, tinted glass, exhaust tip I have got on my sport.

Hope this helps.

18" alloys and TTE/TRD body kits were options, not restricted to just the Sport. The Sport didn't have a different grille as standard either (same grille as S and SE). TRD kits comprised a front bumper lip, a rear bumper lip, a pair of side skirts, and a higher rear spoiler (all were available separately I believe). TTE kits were a complete front bumper with built in grille, and a rear lip, again available separately. There was also an optional grille, which suited the TRD kit nicely, often called the Sport grille (because it has a small badge with the Sport writing on it.

Pretty sure the alloy pedals were standard, but maybe it was a year thing, so earlier cars didn't have them possibly...

Some of the Sports didn't have LSD, although it seems there's never been a proven formula for working which does and doesn't (ie, by year or whatever)

The biggest difference is the Sport only came with a manual 'box - no auto. Engine wise it was exactly the same. Exterior wise, the only standard difference was the addition of a boot spoiler, and darker rear windows (the rear vents have "Sport" lettering on them). Inside, two tone steering wheel and alloy pedals and sill kick plates, the rest was the same as the SE (same half leather, same heated seats, etc).

Most people call them "rear quarters", but they're actually called vents (I'm an automotive glass fitter by trade). Rear quarters are body fixed glass, such as you see on estates; vents are fixed glass in doors. You can have front quarters too, such as Vauxhall Zafira's or Toyota Previa's - look like vents but are on the body, not in the door. And you can have front vents too, such as old Escorts cabriolets or Vauxhall Nova's. The term vent came from back in the day when older cars used to have little triangular windows that were hinged, so you could "vent" the cabin without rolling down the full window (think MGB, or Morris Minor)
