Leaking Air Conditioning Pipe

I'm in need of help or advice :zee:

My Lexus LS400 recently had the air con regassed and had the dye included, well my to my surprise it was found to have a leak in the front pipes. All the gas leaked out within a couple of weeks. Can anyone advise me as to what I can do, by way of repair. Either by applying something to it, so as to plug up all the leaks. Or someone who can actually change the pipes, without me taking out a mortgage.

Hi The problem with the pipes on the Ls400 is common on older models my Mark i leaked and that was somewere in the evaporation area in the end I gave up it is too big a job when it is in the cabin.

The problem with the front pipes is corrosion and if you get second hand they will be corroded I don't think any of the sealers work as this is a pressure system and eventually the refregerant will escape.

Is it definitely the pipe which has holed or one of the O ring seals at the ends of the pipe?

Just get new pipes. The problem with repairing old pipes is that you have no idea how bad the corrosion is, and sooner or later it'll go again, somewhere else.

The seals may be like this so will need renewing. The bolts are a pain to undo (steel bolts into Ali) so extreme care needed. From the bulkhead to the condenser behind the radiator all the pipes and joints can be seen so you may be able to pinpoint the leak. Check under the Battery box as it can rub and erode the pipe. A/C fitters use glasses and a UV torch to see leaks. Chemical metals etc will not work.
