Owners Manuals And Headlight Questions.

Recommended Posts

I live in Holland and have just bought a 2009 RX 400h. The owner's and navigation manuals are in Dutch - the dealer is trying to find an English version for me.

In the meantime I have downloaded the complete manuals from the Lexus USA site (you have to love the American Freedom of Info System) The download was free. Unfortunately, there are quite a few differences between the American and European specs.

Is there anywhere that I can download a set of European manuals in English?

Secondly, the headlight question. I will be bringing my RX across to the UK from time to time. Is there an adjustment on the headlights for RH/LH drive or do I have to use the 'stick-on' option?

Needless to say, the American manuals didn't mention it.

Thanks, in anticipation.

There is no RH / LH adjustment I'm afraid. You have to use the stickers. You may also want to disable the AFS (Adaptive Front lighting System... or swivelling headlights) so as to not blind other drivers when going around corners.

According to Lexus UK there is no need to do anything apart form switching off the AFS when taking a UK RX to Europe so I assume it is the same the other way as well. see below for the answer from Lexus UK. You do not need to use the stickers.

Thank you for your further email.

I can confirm that the HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps on the RX 350 do not need to be
converted for travel on the continent. The set up of the headlamp is such that the light shines in a horizontal
flat beam which has no kick up and as such is not dazzling to drivers of oncoming cars.

As you have suggested, we would recommend that the Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting
System (I-AFS) is switched off when travelling on the continent.

Yours sincerely
