Completely Dead Electrics

I was informed by my LS400's previous owner to manually lock the doors when not using the car for a few days, as the security system would drain the Battery otherwise.

I manually lock the car now-unless, out with the car for the day somewhere,-but surely this security system on a car like this should be able to handle a few days inactivity? after all, it's quite a hefty Battery under that bonnet,-570 amps.

The early pre October 1994 LS400s had a switch below the dash which enabled you to turn off the remote locking if the car was to be stood some time and this is mentioned in the handbook. If I am leaving the car at an airport I always do this and have never had a problem on returning.

Wish my IS had this!

This problem is not confined to Lexus. I have come across new Bentleys and Aston Martins that have to be started up at least every five days or the batteries run flat due to the drain by the security systems.
