Mixing Tyre Brands

Recommended Posts

My wife's IS has Dunlop SP9000 on the front and SP2000 on the rear. I have on a couple of occasions had the backend break away when it wasn't being pushed hard. I don't know if this is a problem with mixing types or that the SP2000 are rubbish. Front end grip seems very good so I may replace the rears with SP9000.

If I wanted the best grip then Bridgestone SO-3 are the way to go however price, wear and noise are also things to consider and the IS200 really doesn't need the performance of the SO-3.

In my experience Michelin are the best brand if you would not change tires every 15k km.

so guys....

Do you think the best tires for an Is200 are toyo proxes???

I mean for lex fitment i'd like a tire with good grip and handling but it also has to be not very noisy....

What do u think?

Just buy two Matt! Put them on the back and drive it for a few days, then change them to the front and see what you think.

I put a pair of T1s on the rear and left the Goodyears on the front. The rear was nervous and twitchy on a fast twisty trip of 240km. I changed them over at the destination and drove back with the Toyos on the front. Now the front is pin-sharp and the rear very smooth, with superb turn-in.

I've used two different pairs of tyres on quite a lot of cars. Currently my Sentra has 13"rubbish on the back and 14" low profile high quality Yokohamas on the front. The best way to make a front wheel drive handle!

shame you've just purchased, we've just added a new tyre company to the gold discounts that will give discount to loc as well...

Not sure if it has been copied accross from toc gold to loc gold yet though....
