Broken Parking Sensor Help!

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a broken parking sensor on my IS300.

There are 4 on the back bumper. Two on each corner and two in the middle, spaced out below corners of my number plate.

I have seen these on other lexus cars on the road, they are ugly with a black outer edge.

One of them as per the pic is pushed in, hence the outer plastic edge is cracked.

Where can i get hold of one? I called Woodford Lexus, they ordered two in and its now becoming a big puzzle - they can't find the correct one!

Cheers,

S

Are they aftermarket or genuine Lexus accessory?

Only you can provide us with this information. Have a look through the paperwork of the car to see if there's any instructions on parking sensors. Failing that Lexus will be able to confirm for you if their factory fitted or aftermarket

I dunno as I have them ugly brutes as well on my car. They were only fitted to the corners but picked up the centre of the rear bumper too.

Mine stopped working as well due to someone reversing into one of them and I too have been unable to track down replacements. They are a genuine part as the control box has Toyota part numbers and Denso markings on them.

Mine are the same as above in the brochure and only two.

The ones on your car look more refined (but still ugly) I know on the later models the changed from two to four.

I'd get one out and take the part number off and do some Googling.

If all fails, install an after market kit retaining the OEM beeper.

I stripped down the rear bumper and found the device. They are original.

At £65 a pop, they are dear (yes, that's £65 each!!!!).

Quick Q: Can they be painted???? Was thinking of painting the outer edge (black plastic) and the inner bit (sensor).

Let me know...

Cheers.

The IS isn't a new car - there will be loads out there that have had aftermarket sensors fitted. Either dealer specials, or by previous owners.

If the OP is really worried about it looking nice, I'd just rip them all out, buy a new set of colour coded ones off eBay, that cost less than half the price, possible a quarter, for a full set than a single Lexus one does, and stick those in
