Does anyone know where I can get my sound system repaired or replaced at a realistic price?

Mine now constantly displays "error 4" and none of the tips and tricks clear the CD player (CD appears to be stuck in slot 6).

I have seen a few on eBay from the USA. I was thinking about a completely new system as I am struggling to replace/repair with like for like.

I found a specialist ML firm who said he had to go back to Lexus as they had the correct equipment to fix/repair car audio systems.

I had a Parrot system fitted but this has its own built in amp and plays mainly through the rear speakers via line in (mobile phone as sound source) and there is no way of changing it so this has no proved to be a satisfactory alternative.

There were a few systems on eBay recently. There are also a couple of SC's being broken and I am sure they will sell the system.

What with the motorised cover not sure how well something else will fit and or look.

If its an ls430 i have a newer Mark Levinson cd/tape unit. I was going to put it in my ls430 2001 (now sold) but when i reset it by taking the negative of the Battery terminal for 5 mins, it started working again.

I tried this and many other weird and wonderful fixes all with no positive outcome. Thanks though.

Have you fixed this error4 problem yet ,if not have you removed the stereo and had a look inside of the unit ,sometimes you can see the problem and its an easy fix ,if you need help getting the unit out reply to this link and ill talk you through the stages ,all the best john

Cant seem to find the enthusiasm to remove the stereo as I know once I have I will be without it for c.10 days.

Have you removed and fixed your own then? I was worried it was a bit of a dark art and requires certain tools to open the stereo itself. Is that not the case?

Hi yes I removed my cd player and fixed my error3 issue ,but when I type in error4 the search engines come up with the error3 solutions,to take the cd unit apart is quite simple ,if you want to call me I can talk you through it ,I live in Leeds if your coming close by I would do it for you and take a look inside ,sometimes its a simple fix ,bear in mind I'm an interior builder not a technician so no guarantee I can definitely fix it but if you fancy a long drive I'm sure we could sort it between us .I'm not interested in money I'm just trying to help so send me an email and ill get in touch ,johncobb52@hotmail.com. 07957965491.

Finally found someone to repair my Mark Levinson car stereo. It is now back in and working after I got the terminal "error 4" message.

The chap, Colin, was excellent throughout and was very reasonably priced even after postage charges to him and back again.. I can whole heartedly recommend him.

Thank you for the info and the link glad you had a satisfactory conclusion to your problem. This is the sort of info that makes boards worth while. Thanks again. I will add the ML experience in my 430Sc is the most impressive I have ever had in any car. I have had some very good cars with top sound systems. Its well worth keeping it original as I doubt anything else will measure up.
