Dirty Ebc Brake Pads!

I did quite a bit of mileage in the LS the last couple of weeks (around 250) and so the car is not looking its best at the moment.

My view of EBC Ultimate pads has not changed, dispite the manufacturer saying that dust was not a problem with them it clearly is.

The 1st picture is the rear fitted with EBC pads and the 2nd the front fitted with OEM Toyota pads bearing in mind that most of the braking effort is biased towards the front it's not good.

Too right, if you look closely there is enough dust to actually write EBC in it!

Ah the Mitsubishi Enkei wheels this came about from when the Chrome alloys it had fitted on import decided to peel after 2 years on UK salted roads. After buying several 2nd hand sets which proved either unsuitable or buckled I came across a company in North Yorkshire who specialised in as new alloys.

I travelled up there and cherry picked a set for £160.00.

They were originally fitted to Evo 9 models but the manufacturer had a rethink and lots were removed without the car even hitting the road.

The only cosmetic marks were where the wheels had been fitted originally with hammer on balance weights!

Picture below were the original wheels,Impul Grantz.Unfortunately I couldn't find a company in the UK to rechrome them so sold them on very cheap.

Very nice, pity about the chrome ones never seen them before. Think the enkei's would suit a certain is200 better though... :innocent::whistling:

Only just noticed the writing in the dust.

Don't like the look of all those drillings on the chrome wheels, there probably fine from a safety point of view, as I've seen plenty like them on eBay, but they just don't look very strong to me with all that metal missing from mainly one half of the wheel centre.

Yes they were those multifit type, never had an issue with them but have to agree they do look weak compared to a single PCD type. They were also staggered fit with 8.5 fronts and 10.0 rears if I could have got them rfurbished I would have kept them as they suited the car very well.

Huge difference!!! And the wheel caked in brake dust is the rear, wow!

Really like those wheels Steve :)

Yes it is really bad,the wheels are also treated with Autoglym wheel wax to try and protect them but it has little effect.I have even contacted EBC but they were not particularly interested.

Never mind they will soon be ready for replacement so back to OEM Toyota.

Which wheels do you like the Evos or the Impuls?
