Is This Worth While?

Recommended Posts

The screen and mp3/mp4 playback are fine for the money ,But the radio is useless, the one i had clicked through the speakers every time it re-tuned with the RDS also suffered with bad drop out going under bridges ect.

I got this one.

Got it last year £299 from Halfords, excellent sound (even better with android as it uses HDMI to connect)

Radio reception is poor, althought I am sure it has something to do with my aerial etc... typical Japanese car .

Is the antenna amp not in use with a after market system? i guess not....

If i ended up not buying a car with navi my plan was to get one of those cheap touch screen systems, was going to pay around £200 because the one that i liked the look of and half looked similar to the IS dash was around that price. I think i found one with red backlight too. Ide go for it but just remember these cheap systems have surface mounted amps and are usually rubbish so may not be able to drive all 8 speakers properly, but i dont know for sure

I do not know about the cheap ones. But the Alpine the car had when I bought it and now the Pioneer I have for the last year. Do manage to play all speakers properly...

The factory amps usually are small anyway.

For the Salloon I do not think it will be a problem.

When I bought my IS200 it already had an aftermarket single Din Sony stereo in it because the original had died I imagine, it sounds really good.. Would that mean the Amp has already been bypassed?

I've come across this Milion G2223 which has a detachable front, GPS, Bluetooth and everything else...

I'm thinking of getting it... Can anyone tell me if it would be an easy fit? Or if for about the same price can recommend anything better?

Advice appreciated ;)

When you fit an aftermarket head unit the radio reception is always crap, unless you find the Ariel lead and follow it till you find a black lead that come off it, this black lead needs a 12v power supply for the ariel to give the best radio reception!

Personally I wouldn't recommend any of the cheap brand stereos. You might loose a bit of functionality, but I'd go with a Pioneer, Alpine, Sony etc etc any day. The amp will be of much higher quality than those cheap units. They suffer background hiss and things like that normally.

But yes, it's common to connect the aerial feed to the remote out/ electric antenna out feed on the stereo so it powers the aerial when the stereo is turned on.
