A bit of a dilemma, I have a 2011 IS250 Advance (cadoxton, light grey leather, satnav etc) that is 3 years old in January and only 14000 miles!! I love the car but don’t really use it much. Should I sell, can you sell these vehicles readily? Or has it lost so much money I may as well keep it and enjoy the occasional use? Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated.

Have a look on auto trader for rough prices. If you like what you see then sell, if you dont, keep it.

If you bought it outright then it cousl release some funds for you or alternatively if you bought on finnace it could release some additonal cash on a monthly basis.

BUT what ever car you replace it wth will be cheaper, less well equipped (unless it is a high spec older car) and you wont enjoy it as much.

if i were you i would ask myself one question...Do you need the money it will release?

Thanks Stu, I paid for it when new (so it would release some cash) with the aim of keeping it for 6+ years however various changes in circumstances meant it became a “weekend car” which I enjoy as I can keep it immaculate which is very satisfying. Just not sure how much of a liability it will become and how much money I will lose in depreciation over the next 3 years. Was originally tempted to sell and by a new MX5 (great fun weekend car) but the understated class and refinement of the IS250 V6 seems too hard to give up.

It'll sit in the garage and lose money. I would say you are better off selling it now, investing the cash for a time when you need it - it'll all be still there (and may be more!).

EDIT

With the money you could buy something you really could enjoy at the weekends - like a good classic car which won't lose any money. I often drool over cars on www.pistonheads.co.uk….like this
