The only problem with that is if you brake suddenly the drink will be at your feet. And if it's a hot drink then your...

I was holding a bottle of water once between my knees and I braked suddenly. The bottle rolled into the footwell, the top wasn't on so I had water pouring everywhere and I couldn't reach it with my hands. The worse thing was that at one point it was stuck under one of the pedals.

Don't do it anymore.
