Intermittent Knock/bang Front Suspension

So with the weather being so crappy and never when I'm free is it not raining for me to look and investigate further I thought I would just ask. So I have this knock/banging sound/thing/annoyance coming from the O/S/F suspension, it's intermittent and won't do it if trying to make it do it, however just by driving it I can just tell something isn't right?!? When it does do it, it's very loud in the car almost like a coil spring snapping a coil off (it's not sitting any lower nor making a sound when turning) so I'm sure it's not a spring.

I'm aware of the ball joint problems these have but know they have been replaced.

So any ideas anyone? a guide as to what to check when I do finally get to jack it up and look would be great.

Thanks

Ahh mate I feel awful reading this. :(

I never had a sound like that when it was my car... The drivers side ball joint was done at Lexus Bristol less than a year ago as you know, I think you can rule that out. I've got no idea mate, the Lexus service sheet from November gave the suspension the all clear so I'm surprised to be reading this!

Hope you get to the bottom of it mate.

It's gonna have something to do with the bloody awful roads we have here in Bournemouth, pot holes, rough uneven Tarmac and speed bumps have probably taken their toll of the suspension components, not your fault pal, it's consumable components, need a dry day really to look at.

I'm having a similar problem . . I think. It's sounds like what you'd imagine a rusty spring to sound like, but only when I go over speed bumps. I've had my mechanic look at it twice now and he says everything is tight and there is no apparent play, he's checked the callipers and says he cannot replicate the noise in the garage, but it is evident when the vehicle is being driven. He thinks it could be the shock on it's way out (at 140,000 miles, I would be surprised) or it could be an Anti Roll Drop Link. But he said that there is not movement and the car feels tight, so he's recommending to do nothing and just monitor the situation as he cannot be sure where the noise is coming from and doesn't want to carry out work on one and it be the other.
