Hi,

I need some help with finding a fuse.

My rear foglight doesnt work and the bulbs look okay. I want to check the fuse but as there are a million locations I just don't know where it is and I don't rally understand the shorthand on theback.

Its an 04 ls430!

I don't have the wiring diagrams for the LS430 but the fuse locations and descriptions may be in the owner's manual.

In the series IV LS400 there are 2 fuses both rated at 15A one supplies the fog lights and the other supplies the fog light relay.

Looked closely at all 4 compartments.

3 Interior and 1 under bonnet.

Under the bonnet there is a fuse for Tail and that was perfectly fine, so I changed it anyway. There is a fuse for the front fog lights but absolutely nothing for the rear fogs

Completely at a loss now, on top I cant pass the MOT if these aren't working!

My numberplate lights are LEDs, I am going to change these back to normal at the far fetched attempt this is whats causing the issue. Highly unlikely though.

My LS400 electrical manual for the 2000 year model is from the USA and doesn't have the rear fogs listed as they are not required there.

I worked on the assumption that they would be wiring into the front fog circuit.

I'll do some more digging and see if I can find any more info.

From what I understand you turn the foglight awitch to the 1st position and this turns on the front then turn it further to the 2nd position and this then puts the rears on also?

Again for the late LS400 but fuse 47 is for the foglights ( interior fuse box)

You say the bulbs look OK but have you tried replacing them?

Based on the 400 there may be a wiring loom behind the driver's side boot trim and a multiway connector also so may be worth pulling back the boot trim and having a look at this.

i stand corrected here but i think the foglights works only with the headlights on - is this how you are trying it?

I can verify this, my Ls430 53 plate fogs front and rear only work with the main lights on, just tested it.

As for a fuse, i would guess it is in the rear fuse box, in the boot near side under the carpet, not checked this as yet, going for a looksee now.

Ok just had a look, no fuse in the boot fuse box, got cold so came indoors, i would have checked the other fuse boxes around the car but i can't get the car indoors where it's warm.

Just drive the car into the house where you can check in a nice warm environment, other owners apparently do :)

That's strange, it works for me.

Triedevery fuse in the car. Found some remains of a installed tow bar and the wiring has been chopped off on the rear.

Think this has something to do with it, going to look closer.

Yup been trying with engine running and all lights on with fogs on :(

Valet parking at it's very best.

Dunno why they are protecting those alloys with the wood blocks, they have to be the ugliest alloys on any car, Lexus should be ashamed they used them on a nice car like the SC.

They're creating a gap between the strap and the body panel, not protecting the alloys.

Thats ok then, still ugly wheels, although they look better with the wood finish on them

Agreed, they are one numb set of wheels, although can be slightly improved by removing the middle bit.

Actually, wheels are not Lexus strongest suit, either aesthetically or in terms of endurance.

They aren't alone though, back in my Honda days, there were numerous posts about Civic TypeR alloys being exchanged under warranty, due to corrosion.
