The problem I hav is that there is a rubbing/squealing type sound when the clutch pedal is not touched but wen I rest my foot on the pedal the noise goes. The noise is fuully gon wen the pedal is fully depressed but cmes bk agen wen pedal is lifted. Thanks hope someone can help diagnose the problem

Any chance of a video or sound clip if the noise?

As the noise is present with the clutch pedal out you can safely say it's not the release bearing as that would be noisy when you press the clutch.

It reads like either the input shaft bearing in the gearbox or it's the flywheel making the noise. The noise would stop for both of these on pressing in the clutch pedal

That's why clutch kits have 3 parts, the pressure plate, the clutch friction plate and probably not replaced on this occasion the release bearing.

Have heard cases where if the output shaft is rusty and not cleaned this can result in noise.

It's not a DMF on this model is it?

All IS200's have DMF, or at least I've never heard of or seen an IS200 with a single mass flywheel. If the clutch was replaced but the flywheel not then maybe you'll get a flywheel grinding noise if the flywheel had been scored or pitted by the old worn out clutch.

I'd be amazed if the clutch was replaced that the release bearing wasn't. Haven't seen a clutch kit for the 200 available without the bearing. Would be a real poor mechanic that would use the old bearing. And as I said earlier the release bearing will not make a noise when the clutch pedal is out. This is one of the biggest mis diagnoses on clutch noises.

No idea what you're looking at to fix it mate as we don't know what it is yet. Clutch/gearbox probs are rarely easy and cheap to fix.

Thanks again for all the helpful info. I'll giv the clutch peddle height bolt a whirl to start wiv, then if that doesn't sort it I'll be off to the local garage for a closer look. Where would I be able to find the clutch peddle height bolt?

Without even hearing it I thought it would be the input shaft bearing as it's noisy with the clutch out.

The bearing is cheap, £20-30. However getting to it and changing it is not straight forward. Transmission needs to be dropped so you're looking at a few hours labour cost and you need to trust it with a competent mechanic
