No Sound From Mark Levinson Dvd/cd Player In Lexus Is250

Recommended Posts

Hello guys please I need help. I just bought a LEXUS IS250 Multimedia with ML music system. The SATNAV works fine, radio works fine and AUX works fine, though the DVD/CD plays fine but there is no sound when it's playing and I can't control the volume from the steering control or even the volume control. Can anyone help with this please as it's really doing my heading and confused as I have not experienced this before since I have been using Lexus.

I would suspect it is a faulty amplifier. 1 check the fuse if that's ok disconnect the car Battery for a few minutes and reconnect. If still no luck get a auto electrician to check it out for you.

Thanks Carl, I am worried about disconnecting the Battery head because this might mess up the whole ECU unit and all the key locking settings might erase. Also the Radio works fine, the AUX works fine, the SATNAV also works fine. The main problem is the CD/DVD player, it's works fine meaning it plays the music CD and the DVD but the only thing is that I can't hear the sound from what is playing and I cannot control the volume from the volume knob and from the steering wheel. That is the problem. So how can you help? Or is there any specialist you can recommend?

If the radio and AUX input plays with sound then it would seem that the amplifier is working. Its more likely that the problem is with the DVD player. You mention that you recently purchased the car - why not contact the seller with regard to the problem? As for disconnecting the Battery negative terminal, its worth a try, as sendz advises.

Thank you very much Bruce, your suggestion about contacting the seller, I have already done this, I did this the day I got the car and as you may suspect typical trader, not having it and not accepting responsibility for the problem. I even said I want my money back, still not having it, so I have written a couple of letters to the trader quoting the "Sale of Goods Act" and now waiting for a response. But in the mean time it am trying to find a solution from the all members in this forum.

I have the exact same problem. I doubt if the amp it's an issue since the radio and AUX plays fine. This started out of the blue but the funny thing is only one of my mp3 disc plays fine but not originals nor other mp3s and DVDs. Please let me know if you get the solution.

Hello guys my CD/DVD player sound now works fine and I can hear the sound now unlike before. But it's really funny becos it started working out of the blue, then went off again but I took a drastic action by hitting the centre console by the passenger side with a bit of force and it started working fine again. I suspect there might be a kind of lose connection at the back of the system. But so far do good it's working fine now. Hurray hurray hurray.

amp is in the boot, right hand side tucked into the corner,

and hitting the centre console...wtf

probably a lose connection in the main unit at the rear (and there are alot of connections)

You might want to try this since it worked for me. I have 2006 Lexus Is250 RWD. Amp does not work on cold and Rainy days. So what I did one morning is i tried the radio and of course it did not work on start . So i opened the trunk removed the plastic cover piece on the right hand side and applied heat from a blow dryer to the Amp. and guess what? worked like a charm. So I ended up taking the amp out and dropped it off at an electronic store. Currently waiting to hear an answer from them.

I Found a Solution to this problem. If your amp makes a static popping noise every time you turn it on. then the amp is fine. just needs to "Warm up". you can expedite this process by applying hot air from a hair dryer to the amp if you like but if you want a permanent solution here is what you do. Now you guys are going to laugh at me but I took out the amp from the trunk of the car. wrapped it with a thick kitchen towel and placed it back in without applying the screws. . When you place it back. make sure that no metal from the Amplifier is touching the metal from the base where the amp sits.. do that and plug in the cables after . and make sure the bottom of the amp, the sides and the top is fully covered with the towel after connecting all the wires. Now sit back and watch it work like a charm . I have no logical explanation for this excepts. it either needs to warm up or something with the ground wire is finicky. I did it after a member from this forum inboxed me and I laughed but did it out of desperation. Hope this works for everyone.
