Retro Fitting Power Tailgate Motor To And Sr?

Hello,

I am looking to buy and SR model, but the only thing stopping me is the fact ti doesn't have a power tailgate.

I don't know if this is possible, but can you fit a power tailgate motor or the a new tailgate tot he SR, i.e is the car wired up to receive this bit of kit?

All I really want to do is open from the remote and then press the button in the tailgate to close. not really bothered if the there is no release button near the steering whell or there is no cut off switch in the glovebox.

PErsonally I would use the money you would spend on such a conversion (assuming it is even possible) to put towards a model further up the range! You will then benefit from other extras such as built in sat nav, reversing camera etc.

you are probably right. However there are some high speced SR's out there, with Sat Nav and a power tailgate would be good when your hands are full.

Almost certainly the wiring will not be in place.

You would need the motor, lock assembly, tailgate sensors, new roof lining/trim to accommodate the motor, new tailgate trim and the tailgate itself may not even have the mounting holes for the linkage (there are different part numbers for the tailgates with/without power lift). If you were to purchase the parts from Lexus you would have a bill in excess of £1500 not including the tailgate itself.
