Are these worth the extra expense, my LS is due a service soon and just wondered if it was worth investing in one and whether they do actually improve performance.

They do work out cheaper in the long run, as you only have to clean it and pop it back in,as for performance negligible at best.

I fitted one when I got my Mark 4 I had changed the paper one in my Mark 1 several times over the 16 years.Scudney is correct on both counts but only economic if you intend to keep the car for a long time as they are virtually lifetime fits.

Just make sure you don't over oil it at service time otherwise you'll be cleaning your throttle body etc as the excess oil will be sucked through.

I fitted one to mine last service and can't say I noticed any difference.
