Just wondering, whether the automatics have bigger frnt discs than the manuals??

Reason being, i have just sold an Altezza Auto/tiptronic, and the front discs were a good inch bigger than the manual i have or the other one i have for sale... Calipers looked the same, but the discs were miles bigger...... must say the calipers stick like ***** to a blanket too..??

Wonder if the brakes had been uprated??? Wouldn`t be surprised as everything else has been!!

i thought the IS`s had the same brakes as the GS`s

most of them are autos, something to do with the slippers :P

if it had bigger discs but the same calipers, surely they wouldnt be any more effecient than the normal sized ones, the footprint of pad would be the same

the GS does indeed use the same brake set up as the is2.

however you can get caliper spacers to move the caliper away from the hub centre, for use with bigger discs.

imagine a lever..... a lever that is further away from the fulcrum is easier to shift.

well a caliper further away from the hub, needs less effort to slow a car, even using the same footprint
