The inlaws LS400 has now got a fault with the electric aerial. It will go up ok but motor will run for a few seconds after fully extended and then when you turn it off the motor works but the aerial will not go down unless you just tap top of aerial with your hand then down it goes. Had it apart and a bit dry inside so greased up and put back but still the same. I'm thinking I may get away with just replacing the mast and plastic cord as was thinking it's the last bit of the cord which seems worn, any advice appreciated please.

You might have a problem getting Lexus to supply you with just the insert. During the time I had my 400 I had to change the insert twice (car wash amnesia). My local Lexus dealer, here in Holland, told me that the insert was the same as the Toyota Camry...........and much cheaper. It is a very easy job to do.

Can't find the Camry one as it appears to be roof mounted but the Lexus one is as below

Part 86337-50140 or 86337-50142 (ROD & PIPE, SEALED W/CABLE Fits all model years, around £50.00 though!!!

There is also a fitting tutorial on www.lexls.com.
