Insurance Prices Set To Rise

Well, you have to hand it to the insurance companies...

Due to a massive increase in un-insured drivers, (statistics state 1 in 6 drivers now does not have insurance) the insurance companies have said that they will have to increase premiums to cover accidents which have included uninsured drivers.

The typical rise will be around 60 quid per year.

Now, am I the only person that cannot see the logic here...

There are more people driving without insurance, so you put prices up...!?!

surely this will force people (who can no longer afford it) to drive without insurance, or encorage those considering taking the risk...

IMHO, perhaps if they reduced the costs of the policy, then there would be less uninsured drivers... and perhaps, at the same time, increased the penalties?

If you get caught, you'll only get a small fine.

Pay that at about 5pence a month... Might as well risk it...

The law positively encourages not having insurance.

As such, the honest motorist is shafted once again...

Don't suppose you pay 'insurance premium tax' on the fine either...

So that's 2 fingers up to the treasury too - even more appealing :)

Absolute joke as normal, the people that get hard done by are the one's that pay their way as usual.

How the hell can 1 in 6 car's not be uninsured - why don't they just introduce a second disk which proves you've got insurance or not?

Or even better it's going to end up this way so why don't they plug into the TrafficMaster cameras, introduce some software which does numberplate recognition (does it do this already?), and implement a system which automatically sends out fines if the car has no insurance - if the DVLA have the wrong info then I'm sure whoever gets the fine will tell them it's wrong - kill two birds with one stone.... All it would take is for the insurance companies to get together and release the information..

I hate to say it but maybe you do need big brother when everyone takes the ***** as much as they do nowadays....
