  1. I don't know about anyone else, but I am getting very frustrated with the new sat nav system. I entered a street name - it doesn't exist. I entered a town name - it doesn't exist. I then locate the town and street on the map and it sudddenly does exist. OK I am probably doing something wrong, but why is the darn thing so difficult to programme? I have had Sat Nav systems in an IS200, a BMW 330 TDi and a Pioneer system I had fitted to an Audi A4 and all of them were far easier to operate. The instructions certainly leave a lot to be desired, just hope I learn to master it befre the car wears out oldun :yack:
  2. Oh! I forgot, I also received a Lexus Touch-up pencil coloured black. Not sure of it's usefullness as my car is Argento Ice :duh: oldun
  3. When I went to collect my new IS250 SEL from the dealer, I was given purely as a thankyou gift; wait for it- A Keyring :duh: oldun.
  4. here you go mike ← Ledgenswraith, According to your drawing, the discharge from the EFI FUEL PUMP is returned to the SURGE TANK. So on its own would be a closed loop system and no other equipment is needed. I presume there are fuel losses via the injecters and this loss is the amount the FUEL PUMPS have to make up. A simple test will show how long the lost fuel takes to fill a container, then see if the FUEL PUMP/S can fill the container faster, and Bob's your uncle. There is probably a lot more to this than your drawing shows, so perhaps more info is needed. oldun
  5. Having seen the car in the dealer the other day, I'm really jealous! Its a beautiful car, and the ACC must be the icing on the cake :D Word of warning tho, don't try to test whether the car will stop automatically if the car in front does, because it won't. There is a switch off point somewhere around 25-30 mph, the instruction manual should be able to tell you the exact speed The only car that's supposed to be able to do that is the new Merc S-class but if you saw top gear a few weeks ago, you'll see that that couldn't do it either ← Yes, you're quite right, the manual says it cuts out at 25mph. There are two manuals, the owners and the navigation system. They total 693 pages so cannot imagine how I managed to miss that point. :duh: oldun oldun
  6. Picked up my IS250 SE-L on Wednesday and thought I would let you know about the Adaptive Cruise Control. I accelerated up to 65mph and set the cruise on. Came up to a car doing 60mph and (a bit unnerving waiting to see what would happen) the car braked until it matched the 60mph. The car in front then slowed to 30mph as it was going to turn and so did I. Once the car in front had turned off my car immediately accelerated back up to the preset 65mph. All this without touching any of the foot pedals, it felt absolutely brilliant once I was used to it and had confidence it would work. I have not had a chance to see if it would stop the car if the one in front stopped yet so not sure if it does. I suspect it would, so will test it once I get a bit more used to it. Was it a good option to get? Yes in my opinion, as it does what it says and makes for very relaxed driving. My only gripe about the car is the Sat Nav system. It works OK but is certainly not as user friendy as that fitted to the original IS200. I have to keep referring to the handbook to find how to do or undo certain functions which were self explanitary before. Guess it will get better as I gain more experience though. Mery Christmas everybody. oldun
  7. Thanks for that Parthiban, sound like it will be as good as I had hoped. Just hope my SE-L is one of those due to arrive on the 16th December. Yipee :D Oldun
  8. I ordered the adaptive cruise control option on my long awaited IS250 SE-L, and wondered if anyone already has this option. If so could they comment on how good/bad they think it is. My reason for getting this expensive option was due to past experiences with normal cruise control. If the road was virtually empty it worked fine. Is there was any amount of traffic I was forever nudging my speed up or down to match the car in front as I was either catching it up or dropping farther behind. In the end I would switch the cruise control off as the driving was more relaxing without it. If there is nobody who replies with their experiences with ACC I will write a report on how I get on with it when my IS250 arrives. The ACC also comes with the precrash system, I do not intend to test this so don't expect a review. Oldun
  9. Thanks Koshme, my reason for asking is that I rarely use the mobile phone and wanted to keep it in the car mainly in case of an emergency. Knowing it was always fully charged and ready for use was my goal. Keep us up to date on your impressions of you IS250, they are very informative. Oldun :P
  10. Koshime, you've already mentioned that you have a SE K750i mobile phone. Is there a cradle available that you can plug the phone into which then also charges the phones battery? I have a K750i phone and am waiting delivery of my Lexus IS250 SE-L with the ML audio and sat nav etc. I would visit my nearest Lexus dealer, but they are a very long way away. Oldun.
  11. Maybe because everyone in the UK can get FM radio while DAB is not available everywhere. Oldun :duh:
  12. Try clicking here : http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...532&mode=linear You are probably viewing the thread in the Outline format. ← Thanks ScarFace, that sorted it, I must have done something wrong again! Oldun :P
  13. I do not like the new layout, sorry LOC. Showing one letter of a thread and then listing other entries by title is not as user friendly as the old system in my humble opinion. Oldun
  14. Not sure what I did, but can now see the movie :P Quite impressive eh! Oldun :mat:
  15. Thanks for the info mus26c, unfortuneately I tried the download and still get the sound and a blank screen. Still it ownly happens with this particular video so not a serious problem as other videos I tried all work perfectly. Cheers Oldun
  16. Excellent, ten out of ten and guaranteed to bring a smile to anyones face. Oldun
  17. What am I doing wrong? I am using WMP version 10 and can only play the sound. Any idea why I cannot get a picture? Thanks Oldun
  18. The Mole said Lexus ordered all the cars they thought would sell for the first batch to arrive in the UK. Fair enough, but there is something wrong here. Many customers like myself ordered their IS250 well in advance, so why aren't those cars sent first? Lexus Japan have had months to build the cars ordered and deliver them but chose to build and send models someone thought people wanted. Does not say a lot for their legendary first class customer relations service. Oldun
  19. Absolutely brilliant. Almost as good as a test drive! Oldun
  20. Nice one Koshime, sounds like you are very pleased with your choice of motor. Just hope I am as delighted as you when my 250 SE-L with all the extras except for a sunroof arrived in December. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Oldun
  21. A bit late now, but do not use poison in future as it rots the rats guts and produces the aroma you are now enjoying. Always use a trap so you can then remove the offending beastie far away from your house. Oldun
  22. Have you noticed the amount of camera trickery there is when a new car is being shown on TV. Most of the motoring programmes are guilty of it They zoom in,zoom out at 100 miles an hour as if a child was operating the camera. Then race round the car in 2 seconds (speeded up for our enjoyment?). I feel like shouting at them to just show us the car, instead of demonstrating how clever they are with a camera. The cameramen should take a leaf out of film cameramen. Whenaver you watch a good film you forget about the camera techniques used and just enjoy the movie. It just really annoys me when all I want to see is the car they are talking about. Rant over. Oldun :duh:
  23. Not sure if this has already been asked, but here goes. You walk away from your new IS250 with the key in your pocket and the engine still running. Would the engine automatically cut out and the doors lock when you were out of range? If it's not the case as supplied, could the car be programmed to do this by the dealer should the buyer request it? Just a thought. Oldun
  24. If you load the new DVD disc onto the older Sat Nav you could be in trouble. The new one will programme the computer to do things it is incapable of doing. In other words it will not work. Then you cannot downgrade by re-installing the old DVD disc. If thats what you intended I would caution you against it unless you know of some way of resetting the computer so you can start from fresh again. Oldun
  25. Thanks Mole, it looks like it's just the luck of the draw as to when you get your new IS250. I guess I was unlucky with my choice of colours and extras. If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. Oldun
